UTi Worldwide Inc. announced that Jeff Hammond was appointed senior vice president, global sales. He joined UTi in 2010 as global vicep resident, Customs Brokerage and Compliance, a newly created position which was part of the organization’s development of global product leadership overseeing growth and service delivery of its core products.
As the global sales leader, Hammond will direct the regional sales vice presidents, global vertical market sales leaders, sales operations and the supply chain design and innovation team. He is also a member of the company’s executive board.
He has 30 years’ experience in freight forwarding and contract logistics. Prior to joining UTi, he held senior management positions at UPS and Emery Worldwide.
Hammond has been transitioning into this role for several months working with Gene Ochi, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Ochi announced his plan to retire at the end of this fiscal year, after which he will continue to focus on corporate strategy and client experience as a consultant to the company.
“Jeff has made an immediate impact with our global sales team and built an excellent foundation for growth this year,” said Eric Kirchner, UTi Chief Executive Officer. “He is a growth-driven leader who is focusing our efforts to leverage the considerable benefits that our new systems have created for clients. Under Jeff’s direction, our regional and vertical sales leaders are jointly refining configurable solutions that will produce value for our clients and accelerate UTi’s growth.”
