Reverse Logistics Association names Tony Sciarrotta as executive director
The Reverse Logistics Association (RLA) announced that Tony Sciarrotta has been nominated and selected by the RLA Board as Executive Director. Mr. Sciarrotta has already begun managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations.
Board selection of Mr. Sciarrotta shows that he has been an active member of RLA serving in the leadership since 2004. He also served on the Board of RLA from 2005 to 2012 while employed at Philips Consumer Lifestyle as their Director of Asset Recovery and Returns Management. “It was a simple decision for the selection team to approve Tony”, said Tom Maher, Vice President for Global Service Parts at Dell Inc., “Tony will assure that the platforms offered by RLA will remain available for companies to find new solutions in Reverse Logistics.”
Mr. Sciarrotta is replacing Gailen Vick, who founded RLA in 2002. “Tony’s experience, qualifications and years of service to RLA and the industry are more than substantial to meet the requirements that are needed for the next Executive Director” says Charles Johnston, Senior Director of Reverse Logistics at The Home Depot, “After 15 years Gailen is retiring to spend more time with his 32 grandchildren, but he will remain an advisor to Tony.”
Over the next 6 months Mr. Sciarrotta’s main focus will be planning for the Annual Conference & Expos in 2017 and growing RLA’s membership. “I want to return the annual events in North America to Las Vegas”, said Mr. Sciarrotta “Our members need time to network while receiving the most current RL processes & practices”.
“Mr. Sciarrotta is up to speed on the Standards Committee’s new Label Standard” Chairman Dr. Ron Lembke of the University of Nevada commented, “We need this new RLA/ANSI MH10 supported label standard for product integration this coming year”.
“Tony’s support over the last 2 years of the Reverse Logistics Professional Certification Program is important to our selection of our vendors that we outsource to”, says Troy Kubat, Senior Director of Reverse Logistics at Walmart, “It’s imperative that RL professionals are measured with a certification method.
