Crown Equipment service technicians convene for training, recognition
More than 150 service technicians from Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, recently gathered at the Universal Technical Institute’s (UTI) campus in Lisle, Illinois, for continuous improvement training on safety, service and new technologies. Technicians from Crown’s Joliet and Schaumburg retail locations participated in the training as part of an ongoing commitment to help customers maximize the performance of material handling equipment and technology to overcome increasing pressure to lower costs and move more product faster.
“It is important that we continue to invest in the training of current and new technicians because they are on the front lines working with our customers,” said Fred Morrone, general manager – branch operations, Midwest, Crown Equipment. “The Crown brand is synonymous with quality, reliability, performance and safety. Those brand attributes are just as important for our technicians as they are our forklifts.”
Many Crown technicians receive training at UTI before coming to work with the company. In 2015, Crown Equipment and UTI announced a relationship to enhance UTI’s electrical and hydraulic technical training relevant to material handling equipment technology. Crown forklifts are used as educational and training aids in the company’s technician training program.
Julie Mueller, president of UTI’s Lisle, Illinois, campus said, “The relationship between Crown and UTI continues to benefit our students, Crown and its customers. Upon graduation, many students have found quality employment with Crown using the skills they’ve developed in our programs. The focus on industry-specific skills and professionalism during their UTI training contributes to Crown’s ability to provide quality customer service.”
UTI is a provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians. Crown Equipment is the school’s preferred partner for material handling equipment, such as forklifts, work assist vehicles and pallet trucks, at all 12 UTI campus locations across the country.
Crown’s continuous training program for its service technicians is just one of many career benefits, which also include competitive wages, comprehensive benefits and multiple pathways for long-term career advancement. Technicians work with the latest tools and technologies to provide an unsurpassed level of service in the material handling industry.
