Kollmorgen’s new SFD-M (Smart Feedback Device, Multi-Turn) provides machine builders with high-resolution multi-turn feedback and absolute positioning information at system startup.

Absolute Multi-Turn Positioning
The SFD-M measures the rotor shaft’s position throughout each 360º rotation without requiring a home position reference. It also registers the total number of rotations the shaft has made in either direction. Absolute multi-turn positioning is ideal for applications that require precise position tracking over large rotational distances. The SFD-M maintains absolute positioning information in real time, even when the system is powered down, eliminating time-consuming homing sequences upon startup.
