AMT announces launch of International Additive Manufacturing Award Competition
AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology and VDW – Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association) announced the launch of the International Additive Manufacturing Award (IAMA) competition. Applications for the IAMA are being accepted now through December 31, 2014. Rules, submission guidelines and additional details can be found on the new IAMA website: www.additive-award.com.
The annual IAMA recognizes innovations in additive manufacturing for industrial applications. This includes developments in the design of systems or major components; advances in processes or materials; new applications; and data generation or measurement. Those in the industry, such as system producers, users, component suppliers, data modelers, and international academia, are invited to apply. A distinguished international panel of jurists from the media, industry and academia will choose the winning entry.
AMT President Douglas K. Woods said, “The global manufacturing community is paying close attention to the many new technology breakthroughs in the additive manufacturing sector. As more companies move to expand the capabilities of this technology and more end users find production solutions leveraging additive manufacturing, the landscape of manufacturing will evolve at a pace the industry has not seen in a generation. I hope this award inspires additive technology innovators from around the world to submit their best ideas for the future of this promising technology.”
VDW Executive Director Dr. Wilfried Schäfer added, “It is my hope that the IAMA will turn the world spotlight on the pioneers and top performers in this high-tech manufacturing sector. VDW is pleased to join AMT in a global competition that can ultimately benefit the entire industry.”
The IAMA winner will receive a $20,000 USD cash prize and a media package valued at $80,000 USD to promote the winning development. The award will be presented at The MFG Meeting (Manufacturing for Growth) taking place March 4-7, 2015, in Orlando, Fla.
