Prima Power highlights the BCe Smart 2220: Revolutionizing panel bending with smart technology
Smart solution for energy-efficient, high-precision panel bending with robotic automation
Prima Power highlights its BCe Smart 2220 panel bending machine, designed to elevate productivity, ensure operator safety, and provide unparalleled flexibility for a wide range of bending applications. This innovative machine addresses the evolving needs of today’s manufacturing landscape, offering a perfect blend of efficiency, precision, and user-friendly operation.
The BCe Smart 2220 uses cutting-edge servo-electric technology, providing excellent bending quality and precision while lowering bending costs by more than 60% savings in energy and 70% in maintenance costs. The benefits obtained by the servo electric technology are even more pronounced with higher component quality, faster and smoother operation, shorter set-up times, off-line programming, and compatibility with modern environmental thinking. The machine’s Technological Material Database (TMDB) ensures precise and consistent bends, enabling repeatability. Continuously evolving, this advanced database optimizes bending angle corrections, guaranteeing superior quality and enables the operator to run batch or dynamic runs.
Designed with a compact layout, the BCe Smart 2220 ensures efficient use of floor space. Its semi-automatic operation balances flexibility and productivity, enabling operators to work intelligently. Manual sheet loading and unloading allows for batch runs and dynamic processing, increasing productivity and ensuring smart work sequences. Operator safety is paramount, ensured by safety light curtains. The BCe Smart is equipped with two laser scanners to detect the position of the operator, monitoring the loading and unloading area and warning the operator by reducing the machine working speed when he approaches the safety area. A single loading/unloading sequence improves ergonomics and productivity.
The BCe Smart 2220 features a user-friendly interface, simplifying machine operation and programming. Its modular design allows for customization, automation integration, and future upgrades. Remote diagnostics enable quick troubleshooting and minimizes downtime. High dynamics ensures fast and precise bending operations. Low power consumption due to servo-electric drives reduces operating costs and environmental impact compared to traditional hydraulic and hybrid panel benders. Eliminating hydraulic oils and additional consumables associated with troublesome maintenance.
The BCe Smart 2220 also boasts high-level HMI software: Master BendCam 2D and Tulus Bend, which ensures easy setup and operation, providing intelligence to the operator with guided processes projected visually and verbally. Master BendCam 2D is part of the standard delivery and allows the 2D visualization of the bending process. This programming and simulation software includes basic CAD functions and offers many possibilities such as importing 2D model drawing, configuration of the cell software, complete tools management, collision check between tools, correction of bending angles through the database, easy machine axes positioning by virtual handles, simple programming and easy positioning of the axes, a tree-view structure of the bending process, optimization of programming sequences (fast programming), and a teach mode bend process programming (free bend). The Tulus HMI manages the tools of the bending cell for a fast setting and a precise comparison between the tools on board and the ones configured during the setup. Tulus HMI supports the operator by highlighting the buttons or the flow needed in an easy and contextual way. Thanks to the HMI, the parts are organized by archive and it is possible to check and modify the bending parameters at any time. Tulus manages the tools library and supplies a complete diagnostic help by displaying the machine status, the alarms, the axes coordinates and inputs.
The machine consists of two main frames. The stationary main frame provides rigidity for withstanding forces generated during bending phases, while the C-frame mounts within the main frame and supports the upper and lower bending blades.
The BCe Smart 2220’s maximum bending length of 2,250 mm handles a wide range of part sizes, and the maximum sheet length of 2,850 mm accommodates large workpieces. With a maximum bending height of 204 mm, the machine allows for deep bends and complex parts. A bending force of 32 t (320 kN) enables the machine to bend various material thicknesses, and its ability to process steel up to 3.0 mm thick offers versatility in material selection and enough tonnage to process most commonly used sheets. The average absorbed power of 4.0 kWh ensures energy-efficient operation.
The lack of physical barriers on the BCe Smart 2220 maximizes operator comfort and accessibility, and the lowerable work surfaces facilitate loading of small or medium-sized parts and allow full access to the work table. Two laser scanners monitor the loading/unloading area for enhanced safety, and visual devices and sound signals aid the operator in focusing on value-added operations. A maximum sheet width of 1,500 mm accommodates wide workpieces, and a maximum panel diagonal of 3,000 mm allows processing of large panels. The maximum re-entering bend of 55 mm enables complex bend profiles, and the clamping force of 52 t (510 kN) ensures secure holding of workpieces during bending. Lastly, the minimum material thickness of 0.5 mm means the BCe Smart 2220 is capable of processing thin sheets.
